I start these digital doodles exploring type and shape only to eventually add texture. There is rarely any real direction though. It's easy to falter when you are on your own. Where does one find a mentor? The librarium?

I am a meat eater and an animal lover. I eat all meat and love all animals. Ironic? Not really. In Zambia while stopping for fifteen minutes during an eight hour bus ride I purchased a meat pie. This meat pie was unlike any meat pie you'd get here, for it was full of dog meat. What are people supposed to do when there is no water for crops, and no work to make money to buy better food for the family? Mother fucker's gotta eat, right?

The Latino laborer is the backbone of the unskilled labor force on the West coast. They are hands down the hardest and least expensive labor to be found. They break their backs for pennies doing menial jobs. Though they deserve our respect we do not give it to them. When I was a kid my father hired a man off the street corner to help till a garden he was making for my mother. He worked hard with my Dad digging and moving earth. I remember my mom making him lunch. A man willing to work deserves far more respect than a man with a cup. Deserves far more respect than the blood sucking executive lounging. Deserves more than being unemployed.
Arlyle won't watch nature videos. Though she loves animals she won't accept the fact that often survival depends on death. She thinks it's beauty lost in a horrible process. Dead butterflies is all she sees. I see it the opposite. The process of survival is amazing to me. Death and life are equally necessary and I find that to be the most beautiful part.

This is my logo. It took me two weeks to get where I wanted to. People usually associate chainsaws with horror movies. I really tried hard to make it friendly and simple. I'm finding the simple stuff is often the hardest to get to. Sorry about the watermark but I think a dude has been lifting my shit. With the constant influx of information from the internet respect for copyright has been watered down. I began asking permission to use peoples Flickr photos when I need them for an ad or any other project. I was walking through the hall of the Advertising Department of my school awhile ago and some crooked fucker had used one of my pictures for an ad. I would have taken it as a compliment but it was a miserable ad for Timbuk2 messenger bags. Luckily he didn't give me credit for the photo. He never will but I hope he reads this.

Started with picture of microphone (sweet vintage). Proceeded to trace using vector shapes and pen tool in illustrator (took fucking forever luckily though I was in bed for a few days after a hernia operation). Added a boring background and now I have a great vector mic to use as I damn well please.
